convenient access to parks and local attractions in hilo

Staying here was an enjoyable experience as I could easily stroll to beautiful spots like Liliuokalani Park and Gardens and the Pacific Tsunami Museum, both less than 2 km away. I loved the old Hawaiian charm of the hotel with its unique art and friendly staff making me feel right at home. I did appreciate the character of the building, but the shared bathroom situation could use more clarity during check-in.

Couples not ideal

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, even though they seem like they were just traveling thru. And the breakfast was actually good, like bagels and fresh fruit, so that was a nice surprise.

Great location near shops and beaches made exploring easy. Particularly enjoyed the clean sheets and comfortable beds in the Standard Suite. However, lugging items up and down the steps was inconvenient, and the area felt a bit sketchy at night due to homeless presence. The owner's artwork added a unique touch, showing promise for future improvements.

Ceilings leaking, coqui frogs serenading all night, and don’t even get me started on the hot water situation. Not exactly a five-star stay, ya know?

Absolutely loved the vintage charm of the place! Our Double Room had a fine garden view, with lush greenery and vibrant flowers all around. The complimentary breakfast was purely good, featuring fresh local fruits and delicious bagels that set the perfect tone for our days here.
